Patrick Ring
In leading Legacy Partners, Patrick Ring brings extensive experience in business valuation, investment banking, family business advising and collaborating with leading legal (estate, tax and transaction) and business planning advisers. He assists business owner clients with an understanding of their options and then with the design of ownership transition plans. This process improves both the outcome for the business and the owner’s next step.
A graduate of Georgetown University, Patrick earned an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania. He has co-authored or been featured in more than 30 published articles on valuation and strategy that have appeared in regional and national publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Family Business Magazine and Print & Graphics. He has presented to university-based family business centers, regional estate planning councils and continuing professional education programs for attorneys and certified public accountants.
Patrick is a trusted adviser that business owners and their attorneys, planners, accountants and investment bankers have relied upon for an independent opinion of the fair market value of businesses. From 1992 to 2011, he was managing director of The Baker-Meekins Company, Inc., a business and securities valuation firm based in Lutherville, MD. This work was used in connection with the Internal Revenue Service, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Department of Labor. He also served as chairman of a Federal court-appointed appraisal panel to determine fair value of a company’s stock in connection with shareholder litigation.
Previously, Patrick worked in investment banking for MNC Investment Bank and Mellon Bank. Since 1997, he has served as a member of the board of directors or advisory board of The Warrell Corporation, a family-owned confectionary co-manufacturing business. Patrick chaired the Finance Committee of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore for 15 years and was a member of the Planned Giving Advisory Committee of Catholic Charities of Maryland from 1999-2003. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (Business Valuation) of the American Society of Appraisers.
Patrick is married with two grown children and a love of golf.
